STMA CRITIQUE PROCESS
When we critique artwork, we take the time to really look at it and notice things. We consider it, and we judge it. Your STMA teachers are looking for you to follow certain steps in your process in order to do a thorough critique. The steps are as follows:
1. Describe - talk about the elements of art you see
2. Analyze - talk about the principles of design you see
3. Interpret - talk about the mood you feel when looking at the art; make a guess about the artist's intentions
4. Evaluate - talk about your opinions on the artwork; is there anything you might do differently if you were the artist?
